He has always had a very modern style and is often seen at Corporate and Charity Fund Raising events, where he can be a Compere, Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer.
Howard also runs a very extensive ‘Toastmaster Training Course’ and has successfully trained many new Toastmasters. Please contact Howard if the idea of being a Toastmaster interests you.
Howard’s History
Howard Robbins has a very unique history as he comes from a family of Toastmasters.
His Grandfather, Alec, worked as a Toastmaster from 1933 until 1965.
His Father, Bernie, worked as a Toastmaster from 1948 until 1981.
Howard‘s first event as a Toastmaster was in December 1973.
So how did this all begin…….
In 1933, his Grandfather, Alec, was a guest a big and lavish Wedding Reception in London and was very friendly with the man who was organising the Catering. Alec made a comment to his friend about the Toastmaster, saying “I could do better than that”. His friend replied with …. “OK, you’re booked for a wedding next Sunday”. So Alec went and hired a Uniform and did the job with absolutely no experience or training whatsoever. So there began a career, that lasted for 32 years
Howard’s Grandfather, Alec
Alec’s son, Bernie, (Howard’s Father), did his National Service and, after the War, also started working as a Toastmaster in 1948.
Alec’s Brother, Alf, was also a Toastmaster from 1948 to 1960.
SO .. for the 12 years, there were three Toastmasters from the same family all working at functions and events in London, which has to be something of a record in the history of Toastmasters in London.
Howard started to accompany his Father to watch him work when he just 16 years old and officiated at his first-ever function in December 1973.
Now, over forty years later, Howard continues to be a successful Toastmaster.
He is highly organised, and his attention to detail is legendary. His communication, organisation and co-ordination skills are second to none.
Howard will help you as you plan your event and, on the day, ensure that you can relax and enjoy your function, while he ensures that everything runs really smoothly.
